Metals pare losses on US-China trade talks

13 Nov 2018

Base metals that had opened flat to negative in early trades today have pared all its losses to trade higher.

LME Copper has risen 1.4% while Zinc prices gained 1.1% following rebound in Chinese equity markets.

The metals have risen amid reports that China and the US have resumed high-level talks on trade. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He have restarted discussions on trade ahead of a planned meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi later this month, Bloomberg reported.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said in Singapore that the two sides would find a solution to differences over trade that's in the common interests of both parties.
